Councillor Kay Keane urges people to attend Kilnamanagh demonstration on Friday against racism and hate

An Indian man was attacked and stabbed in Tallaght on Saturday evening. Local people came to his aid and got him to hospital. This is the latest in a series of racist attacks in the area carried out by a violent gang. In response to the savage attack United Against Racism and Dublin South-West Together will host a demonstration against racism at RED RUA in Tallaght D24 KV8N (not at the roundabout on Treepark Road in Kilnamanagh as previously stated) at 6.30pm this Friday, 25th July.

People Before Profit Councillor for Tallaght South Kay Keane said “Tallaght is in shock since we learned of the appalling attack on the Indian man in Kilnamanagh on Saturday. We are all sickened by the racism and violence of the perpetrators”.

“We will not stand by and let this go unchallenged, so Tallaght is coming together to reject the attackers and their hate. Whoever lives here belongs here and we will defend everyone in our community. Myself and many others will be at the roundabout at RED RUA in Tallaght at 6.30pm this Friday. I urge people in Tallaght to come and join us to add your voices against racist violence.”

United Against Racism member Councillor Darragh Adelaide said “The racist groups who spread their hate bear responsibility for this and for other racist attacks. It’s the far right’s lies and hate that create the atmosphere in which these attacks take place. They bear a very heavy responsibility for what happened on Saturday and in other racially motivated attacks”.

“On Friday evening at RED RUA in Tallaght we want to show that Tallaght and Dublin stand up to racism, and that we will unite to protect everyone in our communities. Join us on Friday to stop the violence and stop the hate”.

People Before Profit will send a strong contingent to the Saturday March starting on Dame Street at City Hall and marching to the Dáil. Details in graphic below.
