"Tesco management should immediately withdraw the suspension of its store worker in Newcastle, County Down for refusing to handle Israeli goods.
Omar Barghouti, co-founder of the Palestinian-led Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment movement has called on workers across the world not to handle Israeli goods.
The Palestine solidarity movement has for many years called on Tesco bosses not to stock Israeli products.
The Newcastle Tesco worker has our full solidarity. Workers have every right to demand that they are not made complicit with genocide and crimes against humanity.
In 1984, Dunnes Stores workers in Dublin were absolutely right to refuse to handle products from apartheid South Africa.
More recently, Italian dockworkers have shut down port trade to stop arms ships to Israel and O’Neill's workers in Derry refused to stock Puma products leading to their removal from stores across Ireland.
