Gerry Carroll to speak in London at Kneecap Rally for Mo Chara

People Before Profit MLA Gerry Carroll and Councillor Conor Reddy will travel to London today to stand in solidarity with Mo Chara, Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, and Kneecap at a hearing on terrorism charges at Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Gerry Carroll said, “These trumped-up, politically motivated charges against Mo Chara represent a dangerous escalation of the criminalisation of the Palestine Solidarity movement”.

“This is a transparent attempt to shut down Mo Chara and Kneecap because they use their public platform to be vocal in their criticism of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and of the support and arms that the British and other Western Government’s give to Israel”.

“The hypocrisy of the British state is on full display once again. It seeks to criminalise Kneecap while it is one of Israel’s most important allies and arms dealers as Israel perpetrates genocide in Gaza. It's Keir Starmer who should be in the dock”.

“I am proud to have the opportunity to attend and speak at a rally in support of Mo Chara and Kneecap at the court tomorrow, and to stand with them in solidarity with the people of Palestine and their supporters.”

Councillor Conor Reddy said “I will also be at the rally in London tomorrow to show our solidarity with Mo Chara and Kneecap and to demand the dropping of these politically motivated charges”.

“I also call on the Irish Government to tell the British Government that this criminalisation of an Irish citizen for supporting the people of Palestine is completely unacceptable and that the charges must be dropped”.
