The Ireland Against Racism Carnival is gaining momentum and has the support of some 70+ organisations including the Irish Congress of Trade Unions. The level of racism across Ireland is deeply troubling.
The normalisation of racism and the rise of violent attacks has become far too common. The disgusting racist attack in Tallaght this summer revealed the level of abuse our Indian community experience. Unfortunately this is the case for migrant communities across Dublin.
But while racism is on the rise off the back of far-right agitation, the left is also organising to challenge the far right: Important anti-racist initiatives have taken place in Sligo, Waterford, Belfast, Dundalk, Cork and elsewhere.
The demonstration on the 27th of September is an opportunity moment to turn the tide against racism. Don’t let the far right to scapegoat immigrants for the government’s failures. Spread the word and help take a stand against racism and fight for unity over division.
