Michael O’Leary is the poster boy for Irish capitalism. His ‘greed is good’ mantra is repeated regularly in the media.
He now says that he deserves a €100 million bonus on top of his already massive salary.
He has not received the bonus yet because it is only triggered if Ryanair shares stay at a high level of 28 days. But he is already shouting that he is worth it.
O’Leary got a €2.7 million pay package from his company last year and earns over €23,000 a week.
Flight attendants at the same company get €1,691 a month so O’Leary is earning over ten times their wage.
His sense of entitlement knows no bounds – and that is why he wants an additional €100 million bonus.
We need to get back to a little more equality in this country. And that starts with hitting the likes of O’Leary with a higher band of income tax and a big capital gains tax.
That way we can start funding cuts to the hospital waiting lists.
