People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy has spent the week in Tunis with the Global Sumud Flotilla. The flotilla aims to break the siege of Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid to the people there. This is the largest ever flotilla, with more than 50 boats with participants from 44 countries. The flotilla is carrying ten other Irish participants.
Paul Murphy said “The lead ship of the Global Sumud Flotilla has been bombed by a drone. It appears that all on board are safe and the fire has been extinguished.

“This attack was carried out in Tunisian waters. I have no doubt the attack was carried out by Israeli forces in yet another flagrant breach of international law. It needs to be stated and restated - Israel is a terrorist state.
“The Global Sumud Flotilla is a humanitarian aid mission of more than 50 boats with participants from 44 countries. The flotilla aims to break Israel’s siege of Gaza and bring food and medical supplies to the people of Gaza. We are trying to do what the governments of the world should be doing. But instead the governments continue to be complicit in Israel’s genocide.
“The Israeli state is capable of anything to continue the famine it has created in Gaza, but this attack will not deter the flotilla. Our peaceful humanitarian mission continues. Palestine will be free”.
Join the National Demonstration for Palestine
The Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign in Dublin have called a national demonstration on 4 October.
This will mark two years since the most recent phase of the Israeli genocide against Palestinians, which has reached devastating levels since this date. Tens of thousands murdered and maimed, many more starving and traumatised.
People should save the date now to make sure we have another enormous display of Palestine solidarity in Ireland which shows that the Irish people stand with Palestine.
The Irish government have been far too complicit in apartheid and we need mass pressure to implement full BDS, sanction Israel and ban all military flights from Irish air skies.
All out for Dublin on 4th October.
