Trump has opened direct negotiation with Putin, cutting out the Ukrainians. He has even demanded that they hand over valuable minerals to the USA. Nothing better shows that this has become a proxy war between imperialist powers.
The US has no interest in supporting resistance to occupation. You only have to look at their full support for Israel and their current plan to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their lands.
The terrible lesson of Ukraine is that national freedom for Ukraine can never be achieved by aligning yourself with an imperialist power.
