Unionist Parties Defend Israel’s Genocidal Regime during Assembly Debate

Speaking after this evening's debate on Ending Israeli Impunity in Gaza, Gerry Carroll said, "The DUP and UUP used this debate as an opportunity to inexplicably paint Israel as the victim in its genocidal assault on Palestine. This will not wash with any right thinking person. Here is evidence of Israel's impunity in action; not only are unionist parties incapable of correctly identifying this a genocide, but they bend over backwards at every turn to defend the Israeli apartheid state.

"Israel has been given unending political and material support for its genocide by the west. This complicity extends to the Stormont Executive. Invest NI, under the direction of the Sinn Féin Economy Minister, has handed almost £20 million of public money over to four companies manufacturing parts for F35 fighter jets. These are the same jets dropping bombs upon the people of Gaza.

"17 US military flights have travelled through Aldergrove since the start of Israel's assault on Palestine, en route to the Middle East. The Executive doesn't seem to care that this happens on our soil and in our airspace.

"If British and Irish governments were serious about Israeli impunity - they would suspend all trade agreements, end arms licenses and impose sanctions on Israel. This is what the majority of ordinary people living on these islands want. This will end the impunity that Israel has enjoyed for far too long."
