After Catherine Connolly’s historic presidential victory, the question before us is clear - what next for the left? How do we build on this moment to unite movements, campaigns and communities across all 32 counties into a stronger, more united left to break with the politics of inequality and firmly place hope back at the centre of our movement?
The recent presidential race showed the power of hope and collective action. It showed that when we fight for dignity, peace and solidarity instead of division and fear, people fight with us and, critically, that we can win.
This election saw the highest-ever vote for a candidate of the left in Irish history. That tells us something powerful - that the politics of housing justice, anti-imperialism and solidarity inspire far more people than the shallow agendas of billionaires and landlords that the right have championed across our island.
Now, we are coming together to take the next step. We have organised a major Left Assembly to discuss how we fight, how we build strong communities ready to stand up against the neglect and deprivation pushed on us by the establishment and, ultimately, how we develop a real alternative. An alternative that gives people a genuine choice - a choice rooted in hope, fairness, and a vision for a society rooted in solidarity.
For our movement to grow and put roots down across Ireland, we need your voice, your perspective and your experience. Join us on November 3rd to begin a movement to fight for our future!
